Absolutely fabulous, darling!

And so... to day two:

In your own space, post a rec for at least three fanworks that you did not create. Drop a link to your post in the comments. See if you can rec fanworks that are less likely to be praised: tiny fandoms, rare pairings, fanworks other than stories, lesser known kinks or tropes. Find fanworks that have few to no comments, or creators new to a particular fandom and maybe aren't well known or appreciated. Appreciate them.

Okay, this turned out to be harder than I thought.  Looking at the number of comments on my various bookmarked stories, it turns out that I do run with the herd on a lot of things.  And I thought I was such an individual!  Here are my underappreciated/rare recs

CRAFT A knitted K-9!  I grew up on a steady diet of Doctor Who and adored K-9.  Someday I'll track down a copy of the pattern book and knit my very own K-9.  Go admire him!  Isn't he gorgeous?  

FIC When LOtR RPS was huge it always bemused me that more people didn't write Bean/Dom.  One year, after patiently listening to my plaintive moans, my friend feelforfaith wrote me this amazing birthday fic.  Realign. <3 <3 

FIC Burn Notice is a small-ish fandom, and I was quite surprised to find myself shipping them halfway through the second season.  Michael/Victor is way more popular, and I can see the appeal, but I like the almost cosy feeling of M/S.  Ark's Steam Heat is perfectly them. 

FIC I'm not sure how to describe this one.  An AU Crossover is probably the best way to go: DC Comics/House M.D..  Change Is The Only Constant  When Bruce Wayne becomes Dr Gregory House's newest patient drama ensues.  I have a lot of love for this story and I'm pretty sure you will too!

FIC Luther was one of the BBC's little gems in 2010.  Creepy, terrifying, brilliant and cracktastic in equal measures.  I loved the cat and mouse game between Luther and Alice.  This very short (~400 words) fic captures them perfectly.  Outside.

VID I have a real soft spot for this Supernatural/J2 fanvid.  It's set to a Justin Timberlake song which is so totally not my thing, but the sentiment totally fits the boys.  And I'm quite happy to sit and watch three minutes of blinding smiles :)  Supernatural: Sexy Back

VID This vid is made of awesome.  It's a Supernatural/Doctor Who crossover, set to Enter Sandman.  Naturally I adore it.  Doctor Who/Supernatural: Enter Sandman.  Interestingly enough an "Amy Pond" character has subsequently popped up in a s7 ep of Supernatural!

CRAFT And... this isn't strictly fandom-related, but since fandom would be nothing without the internet, you should all take a look at the fabulous Internet Cross Stitch Sampler.  I keep meaning to get around to making my own... maybe this year I will!

(When I showed Dave the sampler, he liked it but totally didn't get the "1111one111eleventy1111one" part.  And I found myself completely unable to describe what it meant.  Was this just a LJ/fandom_wank thing from back in the day?)

Seeing new fic from feelforfaith.

We watched March of the Penguins tonight and wow! I always loved penguins but now I have so many new reasons to love and respect them. Such determination and dignity. Of course, being the big soft girlie that I am, I sniffled my way through the whole thing and was devastated when a father penguin dropped his egg. (There was a thing with a seal too, but I hid under Dave's arm. I said I was soft, right?)

Also: I'm really keen to find out if they used filters when filming. The lighting was so bright, pure and hopeful that I'd love to believe that it was 100% natural. But who knows, these days? At any rate, I'll be rewatching this a lot in 2006, I think.

I also did a bit of writing--mainly on my Authority fic (~600 words) and another paltry 100 words on a James/Lars fic. Hopefully I'll still be in a writing mood after seeing Kong tomorrow.

Finally: yuletide boasts three half-decent Coupling (UK) stories this year, rockfic! They can be found here. Oh, there's also quite a bit of Deadwood fic, but I've no idea if that's good or not.

I'm on a roll with the recommendations, apparently. Clearly they are the buses of fandom.

I've been meaning to rec cereta's Hanging Work AU for quite some time now. I happily squeed--I must find out who coined that word and kill them. It's horrible, but oh-so appropriate--bounced and melted with sheer joy while she was writing this series. I'm still sad that its come to an end. But what an end!

The premise: Bruce Wayne never visited Haley's Circus on that fateful night and never took in a broken young Dick Grayson. Instead, Dick is fostered--and trained by--Selina Kyle, which is less crack-tastic than it may sound. Their relationship is pretty damn cute, and she's almost as hard a task-master as Bruce is in some ways, but infinitely more playful.

It's beautifully written and for the first time I find myself adoring Selina Kyle, not just Catwoman. There are a few spin-off stories written for the universe by other folks--cereta is generously allowing anyone to play in her sandbox--which are also awesome. I'll have to dig out the links :)

Enjoying this series probably says something about the whacked out state of my mind right now. I'm choosing to blame this on the interesting cocktail of medicine and caffeine I'm on--I was convinced that my tissues were candy floss earlier on--rather than any deep-seated and worrisome interests in torture.
