I thought I'd make a new post as recs were getting a bit buried :)

Okaaaaaay. Recs you say, 'Rinny? It got long, so I divided everything into categories behind LJ cuts. Aren't I nice?

Buffy/Angel Fandom

Day of Days & Night of Nights This is Spike/Xander. It starts off as PWP, turns into a relationship and then the fun starts ;)

Anything else by Sajinn is good, actually. S/he also dabbles in a few other fandoms. I quite liked "The Soft Insanity of Time"--you can lose yourself for a day in that one. Interesting take on Spangel....

Bound by Blood. I rec'd "Old Friends" from this site earlier in the week. Actually, most of the stuff here is pretty good, or at least, good enough to prevent my internal-editor from kicking in. There's probably some blood-play floating around in the stories, I forget which one(s) though. You Have Been Warned.

Raar! I was about to recommend a series I enjoyed a while back. Looked at it again. And alas, it's horribly written. Tres embarassing. The stuff above is what has survived my bookmarks after me getting into writing and reminding myself that Grammar Is Good.

Restaurant Dogs (you'll need to scroll to the bottom of the page) is a Jane St Clair fic. Pairing is Gunn/Wesley, something I'd never thought about before, and it's just gorgeous. From the same page, I also like "Boreal", "Real Thing", "Border Men", and "Little Gods".

Comic Book Fandoms

I really, really have to rec [livejournal.com profile] 3jane here. I stumbled over Jane St Clair's stuff shortly after discovering fanfiction. Gorgeous writing, every word is carefully chosen and you get just enough for a great story, but you'll have to fill in some blanks with your own brain. She isn't afraid to make people think, which I really like.

Anyway, her The Authority fanfic is awesome. Love it to bits *huggles it* So, you're probably asking yourself who The Authority are? If so, they're from the DC/Wildstorm stable, group of superheros who well, save the world. But aren't afraid to kill the bad guys. Two of the team are gay, Apollo and The Midnighter, which is always fun :) Planetary has the occasional tie-in with The Authority, if that helps.

I forgot! She also has Buffy/Angel stuff. *zooms back up*

There are a couple of Batman fics on a separate page. Some of which cross-over with Smallville. Alas, I know nothing about Smallville--never got into it--so I probably missed nuances a-plenty. I still enjoyed them though.

Pirates of the Caribbean
[livejournal.com profile] rockfic persuaded me to read one of [livejournal.com profile] firesignwriter's stories. Jjail, if I remember rightly. I devoured it, even though it's still a WIP, and then promptly read everything else that she'd written. Her fic archive is here. I love the Moonverse fics best of all.

RPS, rock band fic
I'm going to pimp Rockfic.com here. Great archive, great collection of authors (mostly), and a great admin too :) It covers gen, het and slash. But yes, RPS. If you fear that your memories of teenage-years favourite bands will be irrevocably tainted, then best not to click. You'll need to register an account to read these as they're all adult rated.

Oh, yes. Might I suggest that you don't venture into the Guns n'Roses, Motley Crue and The Darkness fandoms without a bottle of brain bleach. There are some great stories written in the first two fandoms... but they're kinda drowned out by well... complete shit. I'd heartily recommend Claudia for GnR and Nikki666 for Motley though!

Legend. Epic Iron Maiden AU. Slash. Set in England during the time of Viking raids. Err. So pre-1066 I think? God, I should revise my history sometime. Anyhoo... fantastic story and awesome characterisations. Andy is a wordy writer but uses them all to create a vivid world and a beautifully told story. One of my favourites, and you don't need to know anything about Iron Maiden to enjoy it!

Megadeth=Equal Opportunity Employer. Epic Megadeth het. Possibly less squicky for you, depending on how you feel about Mustaine ;) Anyway, basic premise is What if Megadeth hired a female bassist? Very good stuff.

Try Anything Once. This is the only Motley Crue story I really like. Het. Nikki Sixx and a groupie. To say anything else would spoil it ;)

Flying Low. Metallica. James Hetfield/Jason Newsted. This is set back in the hazing days, late 1986/early '87. Slash. James hazes Jason in his own special way. (Nothing overly squicky though.) All we need now is a sequel.... *stares longingly at Kasia*

Anniversary. Another Iron Maiden fic. This is a slash pairing, but nothing graphic. Steve has a guest for Halloween. Beautifully creepy.

Last but not least is Fuse. *squeezes story close* Metallica--James Hetfield/Jason Newsted. Slash. BDSM. One of my favourite stories ever. It's... it's... good. The sequel is shaping up to equally as fantastic, but since I'm only reccing completed stories here I can't add it. *wails*

I could go on and on and on... but I'll leave you there. I shan't be offended if you decide not to foray into the murky waters of RPS/RPF, but if you do... I have a boatload of recommendations :D
