Sod's law dictates that as soon as I update my food blog--and actually want people to look at it--the hosting company will have issues. Very tiresome.

Still, we picked up camera batteries, so I can finally show you the Char Siew Bao that I slaved over on Tuesday! You should just be able to make out the very fluffy crumb, which I'm told is very hard to achieve.



The recipe will go up on my blog just as soon as the database stops throwing up errors *sigh*

Alas, it's char siew: chopped Chinese BBQ pork stirfried with onions and a potent cocktail of various sauces.

I think I've seen a recipe for a vegetable filling somewhere. You could probably do something interesting with marinated tofu, too.

Hm, with a Chinese vegetable mix, maybe some chopped mushrooms (mu-err or shiitake), it should be tasty also without the meat.

Maybe some pickled vegetables in there too, for some crunch. And some toasted sesame seeds!

That's a brilliant idea. Also, I use this staggeringly delicious sesame oil. Not the regular one, but this one's made from roast sesame seeds. Ever used it? It's savor is very intense and you will only use a couple of droplets. You have to try it. I'm addicted to it, lol. Ahh, the smell alone! *sigh*

Yup, I have a tiny bottle of toasted sesame oil that I use to finish stir-frys and drizzle over dumplings. Gorgeous stuff!
