Aug. 26th, 2005 11:05 pmOooh, I am steaming mad.
My brother--may his scheming mind rot--has had my parents bring him my Chronicles of Narnia books. Old editions. I think they were the very first paperback editions, actually. The key word here, is my.
With the Narnia film coming in December, it seems that he has decided to try and make a swift bit of money off my book collection. More fool him--they're devalued by having my eight year-old scribbed name on the inside of the cover. But still, they're my books! I trawled round jumble sales to get as many as I could with the same cover art style, and my parents have given them to him without so much as a thought to me.
I now want to race up to Scotland and rescue the rest of my books. I'm really quite upset about this :(

Date: 2005-08-26 11:15 pm (UTC)Oh god, I think I would want to kill him. I mean, my brother is like the Bermuda Triangle and everything he ever gets his hands on simply disappears. But at least he doesn't sell my shit, he just loses it in his fucking mess.
But this reminded me that I wanted to read the Narnia books before the movie. I guess, the times is too short, lol.

Date: 2005-08-26 11:25 pm (UTC)I have no idea if he's sold them yet, but my parents took them to him this week when they visited him. I doubt he'll be able to get much for them--children don't think about the value of books when they scribble on 'em--but it's the principle of the thing!
You should read the books! I'd start with The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe as that was written first, and it's the book which C.S. Lewis always said readers should start with. Chronologically, The Magician's Nephew is the real beginning of the Narnia series, but it's cheating to read it first!
