Decluttering--ugh.
Jul. 3rd, 2005 05:25 pmWell, the great Decluttering of 2005 is under way now.
So far, I've junked a large pile of magazines, after ripping out all the recipes that I'll realistically make.
Made a very large, and very sad pile of books--ranging from out of date Internet/Intranet textbooks, an out of date AI book (I forgot that I'd even studied AI's!), about 20 cookbooks, and a motley assortment of fiction. I guess I'll toss my favourite biochemistry textbook in there too. It's not as if I remember enough to actually enjoy reading the book *sigh* Bye-bye, Voet & Voet.
There's also a big box of miscellaneous crap--ie. odd Christmas presents--that's going to the charity shop along with the books.
I'm currently debating what to do with my cross-stitch. I haven't really touched it since we moved and I got antsy about doing fine-work while my eyes are pretty much unmedicated. Maybe I'll toss some pieces that just don't appeal any more and keep those few that do or that are closest to being finished. I need to remember to keep the patterns... I can sell those on at some point. (I've got some really rare and thus astonishingly expensive patterns floating around.) I'm a little sad about this. The knitting supplies I'm more definite about--they're going. I didn't really enjoy my recent attempt to get back into knitting. I suspect I knitted myself out as a teenager, when I should have been partying. *sigh*
I'm talking myself into a depressing corner here. Time to find something fun to do.
