Well, the great Decluttering of 2005 is under way now.

So far, I've junked a large pile of magazines, after ripping out all the recipes that I'll realistically make.

Made a very large, and very sad pile of books--ranging from out of date Internet/Intranet textbooks, an out of date AI book (I forgot that I'd even studied AI's!), about 20 cookbooks, and a motley assortment of fiction. I guess I'll toss my favourite biochemistry textbook in there too. It's not as if I remember enough to actually enjoy reading the book *sigh* Bye-bye, Voet & Voet.

There's also a big box of miscellaneous crap--ie. odd Christmas presents--that's going to the charity shop along with the books.

I'm currently debating what to do with my cross-stitch. I haven't really touched it since we moved and I got antsy about doing fine-work while my eyes are pretty much unmedicated. Maybe I'll toss some pieces that just don't appeal any more and keep those few that do or that are closest to being finished. I need to remember to keep the patterns... I can sell those on at some point. (I've got some really rare and thus astonishingly expensive patterns floating around.) I'm a little sad about this. The knitting supplies I'm more definite about--they're going. I didn't really enjoy my recent attempt to get back into knitting. I suspect I knitted myself out as a teenager, when I should have been partying. *sigh*

I'm talking myself into a depressing corner here. Time to find something fun to do.

I have a couple cross-stitch patterns lying around. I think I will keep them even though I haven't done anything in quite a while. But come winter I might get into it again.

Trying to do the same thing today. Failing miserably. Want to just put a fucking match to it all and start again...

It would be easier, wouldn't it? *snuggles*

Yeah, it's much more of a winter thing. But I have Too Much, so I must get rid of some of it. Sometimes I wish I was a minimalist.

I'm with you all the way, Ang. Because of rampant Identity Theft, trashed mail does not leave my house until after it has been shredded. It piles up every couple of weeks, though, and then I have to go through it. Such a pain. However, as of the last week of June you can see the bottom of my desk *grin*. Good luck with your project.

We shred all our old bills etc. too. We've never had any problems with Identity Theft, but it's always better to be safe than sorry.

Thanks for the well wishes, Yvie!

I admire you for cross-stitching in general. I did it at school at one point (why did guys get to do fun stuff with drills, and hammers, and lathes, and girls were stuck with cross-stitching and sewing aprons?) and I don't have the patience :).

But yay! for decluttering. I need to get motivated again.

Lucky you. We had to do metalwork/woodwork and technical drawing as well as learn how to sew. I still have a lopsided bookcase, and I think my mum still has a metal keyring that I made. Much preferred sewing :P

If you need a good home for the knitting supplies....

Well. It's not much in the way of supplies, B. There's a 4mm pair of needles, and either a 3.75 or 4.5mm (I forget whether I had to go up or down for tension), and half a ball of pale purple cotton DK.

Not a patch on my old knitting bag, alas!
