"The problem with LJ: we all think we are so close, but really we know little about each other. So I want you to ask me something you think you should know about me. Something that should be obvious, but you have no idea about. Ask away.

Then post this in your LJ and find out what people don’t know about you."

(Now I just have to think up questions for everyone else! Which is hard, as you know... most of us talk a lot.)

This is hard! I know the first fandom you wrote for--what was the first fandom you read? And, just because you can't stop me from asking more than one question: is there a fandom you were once into that you have absolutely zero interest in now and will probably never read a fic from again?

*rummages through her memory*

I think the first fandom I ever read was Angel. I seem to recall googling after a really good episode--Spike, the Gem of Amara and pokers--and my mind was promptly blown.

As for a fandom that I won't read again? There are a couple, but I shan't be reading any Harry Potter stuff again. I had a crazy weekend last year where I read just about anything I could get my hands on, and omigod... it was bad. Bad, bad, bad. I do, however, still like the books, despite feeling that I could do so much better than Rowling's editor and copyeditor.

It was really tough, but I thought of something. *grin* How many times have you honestly been in love?

Well, that's easy. Twice.

Pinkfish (David) from the Discworld MUD. That was a torrid year and a half of my life. Boy am I glad I didn't marry him, though! (Before any mudders raise an eyebrow--no, it wasn't on the cards. I'm just saying, right? Mind you, who on earth remembers about that, huh?)

And... Dave. Yeah, they have the same name and--as my dad puts it--work with computers, but there the similarities end. Dave fits me like some sort of elaborate puzzle. We can finish each other's thoughts, ogle the same women, bounce happiy over comics, books, music and even--sometimes--politics. Corny as it sounds, we complete each other.

This meme is interesting. It makes you think about what you really know. So my question is this: If you could live any place on Earth, where would it be and why? Okay, maybe that is more like two questions.

I had to think about this for a while. I think it would be New York City. Bright, vibrant, and diverse. You've got so many cultures packed into a small area and it pretty much works. Sure, there are problems, but all in all it seems like a great city. I really liked it when we visited :)

Where have you traveled abroad (other than Holland)?

And ... vanilla or chocolate ice cream? :D

America, Canada, Barbados, Grenada, Germany, and Italy. I don't think I've missed anything? Oh! Norway, Sweden, Denmark.

This is hard. Very. [bites lower lip and frowns at the floor, trying to think of something to ask]

Oh, wait. I know. I think.

When did your love affair with cooking begin?

Hard question....

I've been cooking since I was pretty young, but I think I only really fell in love in 1999. (It's really hard to groove on cooking when parents are complaining about sugar, salt and fat levels, even in low-fat stuff.) I was doing my postgrad diploma in Dundee--horrid city, never go there--and had a half-decent kitchen and a little money to spare. I experimented with a wide variety of vegetables--some of which I'd never seen before--and worked my way through one of Valentina Harris's books on Italian Cookery.

It was really cemented when I moved in with Dave in 2001. Having someone to bake for gave me a perfect excuse to bake. Lots. We both put on an awful lot of weight that year :P I remember heated discussions between him and Grant--his housemate--about whether lemon meringue pie should be eaten hot or cold. We never did agree on that.

Awesome. One day, I will buy your cookbook, the one that features erotic drabbles in between the recipes. [grin]

And I vote for cold lemon meringue pie. Mmm. Cold and creamy.

What is your formal educational background?

You never fail to fucking impress me, so I'm curious.

BSc (Hons) in Medical Biochemistry and a postgraduate diploma in Information Technology. I couldn't be bothered hanging around for another few months to do a masters thesis, so I went off to start earning money instead :)

I'm now curious as to how I impress you?

You practically ooze intelligence. You've a mind like a steel trap. You're exceptionally well "spoken." It's obvious that you possess a great deal of culture, and are very well read. It is my opinion that you have a very good head on your shoulders.

It's your overall presentation.

*takes mind out and examines it*

You sure you've got the right girl? This brain is all squishy and flabby. All joking aside, thank-you, Hank. I feel quite humble now.

What's your all-time, could eat it for every meal food?

From: [identity profile] glam-ang.livejournal.com
I don't have one. Seriously. It changes constantly.

I can happily eat houmous and pitta for lunch daily, but I don't think I'd want it all the time. I love lasagna, but I couldn't eat that all the time.

I will say this: every dinner has to have onions or garlic in it.
