Dave, I, and the Christmas Trifle hope that you all have a most splendid Christmas! May your food be bountiful, your friends friendly, and your family less onerous than usual.

We've had a wonderful day, and I'm now contemplating a second bowl of trifle :D

Date: 2005-12-26 03:06 am (UTC)It's basically this (http://www.emerils.com/recipes/by_name/a_fresh_cranberry_and_semisweet_chocolate_trifle.html) recipe, but I made a few additions. I'd say that I kicked it up a notch, but then I'd have to kill myself.
Additions: On the basis that all trifles need to be boozy, I used about 3/4 cup of home-made strawberry liqueur to soak the layers of cake. You could use chocolate liqueur, if you wanted to keep the chocolate theme going, but I think the strawberry was a good addition. Also I added a generous amount of very good chocolate sauce on top of each cake layer.
Oh! There were some chocolate chunks in the cake too. The cake turned out pretty dry, so next time round I'd add some cream to the batter.
I think that's it.
