Well, my knee didn't bruise as heavily as I expected. I woke up to find that it was only slightly purple instead of something spetacularly dark. Today the swelling is down and it looks normal, but if it gets prodded or bashed into anything then it hurts like hell. My hands are still sore, so I'm trying to avoid doing much typing and lifting. Tidying the house is taking ages, as I don't want to carry around too much stuff. Of course, I seem to have pulled every cookbook I own off the shelves over the course of the week, so they have to go back. And they are all huge and heavy.

I haven't been able to get back into writing this week at all :( No new J/J porn for Kasia :( The most I've done is edit and tighten up Midsummer Madness to send off to be considered for an anthology. Well, I'm still actually half-way through that, and I'm now wondering if I'm thinking too highly of it. I think I may go and look for some chocolate now....

Hmm. Let me think....

No, not really. In the formerlyJerry one, I just worked in his job a teeny bit, whereas when it was fanfic I didn't mention his job at all:

An image floated into his mind of [Jerry] at work--concierge at one of the top hotels in the city, dressed in a crisp suit and tie, the glint of steel just hidden beneath the collar of his shirt. Or would it be? Hundreds of people coming and going from the hotel...they might all see it. As he thought back to pulling [Jerry]'s tie loose earlier this evening, to popping the first button on his shirt free, he encircled [Jerry]'s neck with his fingers. No, the ring would rest lower than the top of his collar. None of those people would know he was wearing it. But still. He'd know. And whenever Mark dressed more casually--at the grocery store, the gym, the lake--well, then everyone would know.

In "Roughing It", I.... I don't think I made any mention about who "Scott" is or what he does. In the sequel I was working on, I did have to give him an occupation and some backstory so I could explain formerlyKirk and formerlyJason in relation to him, as well as how he can afford to take a month or so out of his life and pay for what would obviously be a very expensive unique vacation. But in "Roughing It", I guess his job just didn't come up; at no point was he lying there chained to a radiator or whatever thinking, "And to think, in my real life, I'm a" whatever I ended up making him.

During the brief period when I was trying to make "Fuse" original fic, I just put them all into a made-up band, so I had to make up some backstory about how formerlyJason ended up in the band, and I changed their instruments around, and I changed Kirk and Lars, personality-wise, especially in the second part I was writing to "Fuse."

And with "This Night is Gonna Last Forever", it was all AU to begin with so really all I had to do was change the names.

Jerry in a collar? I really, really want to read that one now. It isn't ringing any bells though. Thanks for that, H - it really helped. I'm still mildly shocked at how well James has translated into being Greg; I hope it doesn't mean that it was a weak characterisation!

It's called "Some Things Can Never Be Opened" and since it didn't catch on as original fic, maybe I'll look it over this weekend and post it on rockfic.
