I've just finished devouring Hidden Warrior, sequel to The Bone Doll's Twin. It's been a long time since a book has made my blood thrill and exult.... All the characters live and breath and pulled me into the book--I might as well have been fighting alongside them in battle, I was that invested in it.

I'd do a happy dance if I wasn't desperate to read the final part of the trilogy. Alas, it isn't due to be published until May 2006. Mind you, at this rate, I'll have both the books memorised by then.

Get. The. "Nightrunner Trilogy"!!!

Okay, disregard me. I'm a fangirl. LOL But hey, she IS such a good writer, isn't she?

I will and she is!

You totally have to read this trilogy--maybe they'll translate it once the third one is out? According to her website they're all set in the same world....

I wonder if there's any fanfiction out there?

Nope - she discourages fanfiction. I don't approve of it, but hey, her right... *sigh* There's a lot in Russian, because, honestly, no-one can track down what Russians do anymore... LOL But all of the English ones were taken down.

I know these books are set in the same world. I read excerpts she had on her site - I don't know if they're there now, but she used to have them there. But there was only one chapter. :(

I totally fell in love with her character from Nightrunner books, Seregil. And I know I'm not the only one. If you check the Fan Art gallery at her site, 80 percent of submissions come from Russia. LOL

That's a shame :(

I did notice that there were a lot of submissions from Russia in her gallery. Is there any reason that it the series resonated so much with Russian readers?

Well... 1) we seldome get decently written/translated fantasy; 2) we don't have anything even vaguely homoerotic that's widespread published, and here the two main characters are male and into each other.

That's what I see, anyway.

I just popped over to Amazon. I can't believe some loser gave the first book a 2-star review just because the third book isn't out yet. Hello! Review the damn book you actually read!

I shall now pop over to half.com and order the books.

Yay! I really hope you like them, H. They were a great reminder for me of how thrilling reading should be--churning stomach, heart beating wildly, and a need to bounce wildly round the room....

Is it May yet?

I'm gonna have to look this series up on Amazon if you've given it such a great review!

Right now the only series I'm looking forward to continuing is Laurell Hamilton's Fae series and hope it doesn't go downhill like the Anita Blake series did. The first 4 books or so were great, but when Anita started screwing everything and everyone in sight, I lost interest.

I take that back about looking forward to only one series---Mercedes Lackey is supposed to be working on more of the Alta stories and more Valdemar/Velgarth stories. Yay!!

I couldn't get past the first paragraph of Anita Blake 1. The Merry Gentry books are better, but she eschews plot in favour of sex far too much, which is fine in a stand-alone novel, but in a series it's bad news....

I still reckon that I could write better Fae stories than LKH, and one day I'll write one :D

Yeah, I was real happy with the first of the Fae books, but she's really getting heavy on the sex. I wonder if she's in some kind of new relationship or something?

And by this point, I'm sure ANYONE could write a better Fae story than what she's writing. She had a great plot line going, but this screwing everyone thing has to stop.
