Hidden Warrior
Sep. 21st, 2005 05:17 pmI've just finished devouring Hidden Warrior, sequel to The Bone Doll's Twin. It's been a long time since a book has made my blood thrill and exult.... All the characters live and breath and pulled me into the book--I might as well have been fighting alongside them in battle, I was that invested in it.
I'd do a happy dance if I wasn't desperate to read the final part of the trilogy. Alas, it isn't due to be published until May 2006. Mind you, at this rate, I'll have both the books memorised by then.

Date: 2005-09-21 04:37 pm (UTC)You totally have to read this trilogy--maybe they'll translate it once the third one is out? According to her website they're all set in the same world....
I wonder if there's any fanfiction out there?

Date: 2005-09-21 07:33 pm (UTC)I know these books are set in the same world. I read excerpts she had on her site - I don't know if they're there now, but she used to have them there. But there was only one chapter. :(
I totally fell in love with her character from Nightrunner books, Seregil. And I know I'm not the only one. If you check the Fan Art gallery at her site, 80 percent of submissions come from Russia. LOL

Date: 2005-09-21 08:14 pm (UTC)I did notice that there were a lot of submissions from Russia in her gallery. Is there any reason that it the series resonated so much with Russian readers?

Date: 2005-09-21 06:23 pm (UTC)Right now the only series I'm looking forward to continuing is Laurell Hamilton's Fae series and hope it doesn't go downhill like the Anita Blake series did. The first 4 books or so were great, but when Anita started screwing everything and everyone in sight, I lost interest.
I take that back about looking forward to only one series---Mercedes Lackey is supposed to be working on more of the Alta stories and more Valdemar/Velgarth stories. Yay!!

Date: 2005-09-21 08:12 pm (UTC)And by this point, I'm sure ANYONE could write a better Fae story than what she's writing. She had a great plot line going, but this screwing everyone thing has to stop.
