Bah humbug

As soon as one problem is resolved, another one crops up. Sods Law. In this instance, my left knee is now fully functional and happy to bend any way I choose; my right knee is swollen up like a purple balloon with nice scratches adorning it. Guess who fell over... something... this evening? I have no idea what it was, nothing was there after I picked myself up, but there was definitely something that tripped me. A cat? But there was no noise.... Dave is speculating about hedgehog assassins. I hate walking home in the dark.

To add insult to injury, I also landed on my hands which I'd just been to the doctor's about, so now those are even more sore. 2005 looks to be a year of aches and pains. I'm not very happy about this. Incidentally, the hands aren't presenting as a classic case of either rheumatoid or osteoarthritis, nor are they presenting as RSI as the pain is all over. The tendons in my wrists aren't crunchy either, so probably not tendonitis. And they also get sore when I do anything which is quite frankly ridiculous.

Oh, and I can't take anything stronger than paracetemol in case I'm pregnant *rolls eyes* Do I have any straight paracetemol? Like hell I do. Even asprin is bad these days apparently. And whilst codeine won't affect a baby before the third trimester, my lovely doctor doesn't want me to take that either. I think I'll take up meditation. Or, find the person who's made a voodoo doll of me....

I don't have the slightest clue about these things, but could it actually be a sign that you are pregnant?

Hey! I would never make a voodoo doll for harmful purposes! (Wouldn't want the bad karma to come back to haunt me.) But maybe I'll turn that piece of tie you're bringing to Florida into a fertility doll for Ang. *shrug* Can't hurt. If nothing else, maybe it'll make for fertile plot bunnies....

Thanks Brigitte *hugs* I have no idea if it could be a sign or not; I know you get all sorts of aches and pains but I've never heard of it affecting hands. We'll wait and see I guess :D

*big hugs* It has been a rough start to the year, hasn't it? Though there was that day in January when you told us you had no cysts, gallstones, tumours, or weirdly displaced organs...and apparently very pretty ovaries, so the year hasn't been a total flop healthwise.

The hand pain thing is weird. I hope you're able to sort that out. Meanwhile, grab a good book or a good DVD, make yourself cozy, and enjoy getting off your feet. Ooh! Or take a nice, hot bath. I love nice, hot baths. I have this shelf you can put across the bathtub that has a book rest and a cup holder on it, which is so fantastic...except that Mark's bathtub is weird so the shelf doesn't work with it. *frown* But even so, hot baths. Mmm.

Speaking of warm things, you said your hands are presenting as a classic case of arthritis, but does heat help them? If so, have you considered those warming gloves they make? I think they even make them with the fingertips cut out so you can type and do normal things.

I've spent the morning curled up in bed reading the latest crop of graphic novels that Dave bought. A bath is a great idea; if I can find some bubble-bath then I might just have one. Warm water does help my hands but the effect wears off really quickly as soon as they cool :/

Try lavender stuff, creams and what have you for the scrapes. And some lavender oil for the bath - and no, it won't do you any harm if you're pregnant. Lavender is great stuff. One of the few essential oils that's safe enough to use undiluted. (Yes, I know, I don't act like someone into aromatherapy but bite me, okay? My husband happens to be a qualified aromatherapist. *Groan*)

I agree with Dave about the hedgehogs, sneaky little bastards. Anything that disgusting is bound to be at fault.

Hrm. I think I have some lavendar oil... somewhere. Will have to go and look for it. I'm intriegued by Slay being an aromatherapist, does he practice at all? (And why shouldn't you be into aromatherapy?)

My ability to write J/J porn seems to have deserted me for the moment. I even watched a few movies earlier on which didn't help my muses to come back :( I'm impressed at how flexible some of the blokes were, though!
