When I zone out... I really zone out. We're going to a wedding tonight, and apparently I agreed to go days ago. I don't remember that at all.

Time to go and search through boxes--hello, Mr Spider!--and find a dress. No rejuvenating nap for me :(

I zone out like that, too. I used to tell Benjamin that if he had important information he needed to exchange with me whilst I was on the computer, he needed to ensure direct eye contact. It didn't matter if I actually carried on a conversation with him about whatever it was that was so important--if my eyes were on the computer screen and I was going clickety-clickety, the information would not be retained.

(Benjamin, however, preferred to be annoyed more than he preferred to ensure that communication was working correctly, so he would stand on the other side of the room and talk to the back of my head--and get mad when he didn't get through to me. It was a pattern he seemed to get something out of because repeated conversations about this resulted in no adjustment in his behavior whatsoever.)

(Some might say I should have made an adjustment, but as you probably well know the zoning thing is something that really should be considered a communication handicap. It's like telling the paraplegic they really should get off their ass and meet their partner halfway across the room. I can make adjustments in other areas of my personality, but if I don't hear you (even if it seems like I do because I'm actually answering you), there's nothing I can do about it.)

Oh, I was just anticipating finding a spider. As it turned out, today has been spider free... thus far.

I do the same. I talk to my colleague for several minutes until I notice that I didn't get a word of what he was saying.

I think it's just because I'm so tired at the moment. I haven't been sleeping well since we moved in :( But now that we're done with the old house completely--we got the deposit refund today--I might be able to settle down. (It is definitely worse when I'm working at the computer, though.)

Failing that, I'll have to take to drinking warm milk before bedtime. Four hours of sleep is just not fun :(

I was over-dressed :P I could have gotten away with trousers and a silk top, and been a damn sight warmer too!

It was fine, we huddled in a corner with our friends as we barely knew anyone else there. As is typical for weddings. Happily our corner was right beside the buffet table. Poor Dave, though. He's spent over three hours driving tonight :/

Ain't that usually the case? If you'd shown up casual, people would've been pulling in on limos and dressed in Gucci. xD

Hurray for buffet tables. My hideout of choice as well. That and stairwells.
