I didn't watch this at the cinema when it originally came out and I'm really regretting that decision. All I can say is wow. Wow, wow, wow, wow!!

I love it. It's like the graphic novels have walked out of my head and hopped onto the screen. From the opening treat with Josh Hartnett--my current obsession--to the sheer awesomeness of Clive Owen... it's everything that it should be and more. Mickey Rourke was just perfect as Marv and even Bruce Willis has redeemed himself as an actor. Delicious cinematography too. I can't wait for Sin City 2 next year!

*sighs happily*

Best comic book adaptation ever.

There's gonna be a Sin City 2? Best news evah. (Well, next to news of a Devil's Rejects sequel, but Sin City 2 is scads more likely.)

Yup! It's in pre-production just now, but there's bugger all info available on it.

It is a feast for the eyes. However, I was a bit confused in some parts. The way it looked made up for that, though. Frodo was really creepy in it too. ;-) Can't he just go back to being possessed by the ring?

I had a brief moment of confusion, but then it all became clear to me. Elijah Wood made a perfect Kevin, I thought!

I have to see it. It certainly has an impressive cast, and I love Clive Owen--he's so intense in whatever he does.

You'll be pleased to hear that he's intense in this film too :) (Really intense.)

O I loved it too, wish I'd seen it in the cinema. Wish I'd read the books too.

The graphic novels are probably readily available in your local comic shop!

I can see that a healthy portion of my graphic novel budget this month will be feeding Ang's newly found Miller addiction

Hah! Remember when you thought I'd be disturbed by the comics? ;) And yes, furnish me with the rest of the books!

It was very pretty wasn't it? I was a big fan of the Batman comics when Miller was doing them. So much darker :)

Mmm. I may be one of the few people on the planet who wasn't blown away by The Dark Knight Returns. I expect that [livejournal.com profile] 2lazy4linux will spank me when he gets home for that comment. *shrug* Maybe I should give it another read....

I do adore The Hard Goodbye though. (The Marv arc in Sin City.) Great story, and beautiful stark, yet rich, artwork.

DKR along with Watchmen is probably less impressive now than it was when released or shortly thereafter...especially if you weren't reading comics at the time.

The ideas that DKR puts forward and the way it characterises some of DC's most iconic characters was revolutionary.

Oops forgot I was on your LJ and not on a comics related board :)

Oh, feel free to geek out. If you can't geek out with me then there's something wrong ;)

Watchmen still impresses me, it's just DKR that doesn't. I think for that one, you really did need to read it when it first dropped. It's less magical now, after reading the gritty stuff that's been done in recent years. The artwork bothers me too--it's scratchy. I guess I just like my Dark Knight to be slick....
