Our day.

Got up early.

Drove to Bristol.

First house we went to view had been taken by the people who viewed it just before we arrived. It went on the market yesterday.

Drove around a few suburbs killing time before viewing the next house.

Phone rings 10 minutes before our appointment, and the next house has gone.

Swear muchly.

Went to cinema--Stealth was pretty fun. It cheered us up for a couple of hours at any rate.

Came home.

You know what? It'd have been easier to buy a house. I now look forward to abasing myself in front of our current letting agents and begging to be allowed to stay for another month or on a week by week basis. This is utterly ridiculous. I think they should make a video game with letting and estate agents as the mobs. I could be persuaded to frag several hundred of them right now.

God, Ang, this bites. I'm really sorry you're having such trouble. Believe me, I understand. Even though I was buying at the time, I ran into same thing when I was looking for my house. Houses were being sold so fast that they would be gone before I had a chance to look at them. Hell, the one I got never even made into onto the daily listings. The agent checked the computer at the last moment, it had just gone on the market and two days later, they accepted my offer.

And there were five people behind me, waiting, with open check books.

Five - in less then twenty-four hours.

It got so bad people were making offers on houses to get them off the market and then backing out when they found something they liked better.

It's a nightmare, escpecially when you're under pressure. Then to drive all that way for nothing? That really, really sucks. I hope you find one soon.

Stealth was firmly in the 'enjoyable hookum' category. Bear in mind that I like AI and robots a lot. I only got jolted out of it twice: once, when someone made a 'mulatto' comment (which really was unnecessary) and secondly, when they managed to completely erase some um... political geography.
