Almost done....

Our hoover is just at the right height for me to have to stoop when using it. So, my lower-back is locked up tighter than Fort Knox. Plus, it has all the sucking power of an octogenarian. Dysons are supposed to never lose their suction! One day someone will invent nanites which will keep the house clean....

On the plus side, I've discovered a vast selection of pens and pencils which appear to have attempted a valiant bid for freedom. By rolling into dark corners. They've been safely corralled in a beer-cozy. But even better are my sunglasses! I need to remember that tidying away glasses into bags of paperwork is unwise.

I also need to get better at housework. Still, you should all come round and see my surfaces sparkle.

Oh, a fic rec: Mostly Harmless by Bliss.

Now the writing isn't stellar (nor indeed, dreadful), but this little ficlet still remains as one of my favourite J/J stories (and the best story on Metslash). The premise is excellent and I really wish [livejournal.com profile] evilbliss hadn't disappeared from the fandom, not to mention ze entire Internet. *sniffles* Oh, [livejournal.com profile] rockfic! This is the story that you really liked, but were afraid to re-read in case it didn't live up to your fond memories. So, don't click :P

I remember Mostly Harmless. Bliss disappeared? That's a shame. I love her stories. :(

*waits for the nanites to do her housework*

She did. There are a few more stories in her memories, but they're all friends-locked :(

Congrats on the housecleaning, that's great.

And thanks for the fic rec. Mmm... excellent. I think it would live up to H's fond memories, don't you?

Thanks, Keli! I'm absolutely knackered after all this cleaning.

Glad you liked the fic :D

I knew without clicking which story it was. I know I'm going to think less of it if I reread it. It's better if I just go have a lie down and remember it instead.

P.S. Have you tried emailing the addy on her lj user profile?

I thought about it, but then decided that it was stalkerish enough to have tracked down her LJ.

I just want more of that story, dammit!

(I still think that you'd enjoy it, but reminiscing is better than nothing!)

I miss Bliss.

I don't think it's stalkerish to e-mail-- she put it up in public, after all. I'm tempted to e-mail her, myself, but I fear I might write something like OMG your stories are so awesome and I haven't seen you in a long time and I was just wondering what happened to your webpage because I really liked your stories, especially the Guns N' Roses ones and by the way, you could come post them over at rockfic.com!!!!!!!1

I never saw her GnR ones, just the stuff posted at Metslash :(

You should email! (So that I don't have to :P)

I do like that story. I remember it from days gone by and I do like it. I just...well...minor issues. For me it takes a really special handling to make a vulnerable James, strictly personal opinion. Story's still good. Bliss wrote some good shit.

Vulnerable James is hard, but she did a reasonable job. Ev has a gorgeous picture of young James in some heavily ripped jeans that always makes me think of that story :D

I remember "Mostly Harmless"--it's a good story.

I think most of the people from the original Metslash list have moved on to different fandoms, or stopped writing in general. I wonder if the same will happen with us in a few years...?

Maybe... who knows? I think Metslash petered out due to the spats they had with Tallific and also the general lack of activity on the list. No one gave feedback, therefore writers stopped writing as they had no idea if anyone had even read their stories. Thankfully we don't have feedback problems on Rockfic.
