Saturday ramblings
Jul. 2nd, 2005 03:58 pmI'm half-watching the Live8 concert from Hyde Park, whilst transcribing some writing I did earlier on before my favourite pen died.
Thoughts thus far:
* I still dislike Bono and U2. I had to laugh when Bono talked about it being a rock 'n' roll gig, and then launched into something that sounded remarkably like a lullaby.
* Richard Ashcroft (The Verve) put Chris Martin (Coldplay) to shame. I don't know why everyone gets so wet over Coldplay. They're insipid. It was fabulous to hear Bitter Sweet Symphony live though....
* The Stereophonics were awesome. Why don't I have any of their CDs? And is there any slash floating about?
* Ricky Gervais is not amusing. Neither are Matt Lucas and whatever the other one is called from Little Britain.
Oh, we watched War of the worlds first thing this morning. I am amazed that it is a 12A rating. I know I can be a sensitive petal at times, but it got really quite gory and unpleasant in the last third. I quite liked it, although the ending was thoroughly cheesy. What can you expect though... it's Hollywood.
The lovely Dave fixed my speakers, so I can blast music again while decluttering. I've earmarked quite a lot of books to go to the charity shop which was a dismal experience. I hate giving away books, every single one of them is my friend. Oh well. We need the space.

Date: 2005-07-02 03:43 pm (UTC)And Richard Ashcroft has indeed a gorgeous voice, and, from what I can remember from my foolish britpop/rock days, quite the stage presence...

Date: 2005-07-02 04:51 pm (UTC)"War Of The Worlds" sounds like my type of a weekend cinema trip - gory stuff in the middle and happy end in the... end. LOL Thankies for telling that... will wait 'til I can see it.

Date: 2005-07-02 06:39 pm (UTC)Yeah, I think you'd like it. It's gritty and I really loved the cinematography--lovely colour palette too, greys and browns. Irritating children, but I guess they were necessary....
