I've had a busy couple of days.... I'm just going to cherry-pick the highlights as I can't be arsed posting a mega-entry.

Have finally stopped feeling insanely jealous of my pregnant friend. Saw her on Sunday, she's got such a gorgeous bump, and surprised myself by feeling really excited and happy for her.

Had an early-birthday party at the in-laws. I've been deluged in pressies, even from extended members of the family that I'd never met. I love them all to bits :D Also, FIL made all my favourites!

Met up with some folks from Australia who I've been talking to online since about '97. Neither were axe-murderers and I had a fun day. Although, there was a bit too much walking for my tastes!

Nipped into Murder One and picked up three import books that I've been trying to get hold of for ages. Trashy, comforting, crime books; just what the doctor ordered!

Had dinner with Dave at our favourite restaurant. They have the most incredible venison there!

Got another review for Shiner :D Not convinced that all the reviewers "got" what I was attempting to convey, but hopefully the sequel will resolve that. Most (sensible) folks got it though. Yay!

Welt is up to 1500 words again after I stripped out about 200 useless words. It feels much tighter and better paced now. As I've fucked my poor knee, I'll lie in bed tomorrow (well, today, now) and finish it off.

Night y'all!

I nipped over to the reviews for Shiner to see who wasn't "getting" it, and my eyes bulged out of my skull. "wow! That's cool beans" ?!? What is that? The review's author at least has her username picked out right. Can't get more fucking accurate than "bootybrains"!

You know, when you say "pressies," it seems perfectly fine, but whenever people from California say it, I want to claw my own eyes out. Just wanted to say.

Go Welt!

Yes, that review. Also the preceeding one too. Jason, was NOT submissive. This isn't a classical sub/dom thing. It's just two fucked up guys getting their rocks off (I love that phrase) in the only way they know how. I'm now staring anxiously at Welt. Have I drifted into writing fics that actually force the reader to think?

People from California say "pressies"? Good grief. Surely they should be talking about gift-wrapped boxes from the mall?

Shit. I wonder if Naughti will pop along to offer some advice since she's a 'wannabe dominatrix'? Argh.

I for one loooooove fics that are not the classical dom/sub thing, or the classical master/slave thing, or that are not full of the classical trappings and phrases of such. I don't think I read all that many classical dom/sub stuff growing up ("The Story of O", the Beauty series, and some fiction from Nugget magazine come to mind), but it still didn't take me long to get bored with that take on things. I already had my own stuff going on in my head and found it more interesting and satisfying. I need something more dynamic than "Yes, master, I love the way you abuse me, yes, right away I'll lick your boots, master...." Always reminded me of Igor.

Yes, so...looking forward to Welt!

Poseurs from California say "pressies," not the normal, regular Californians. I shouldn't even say "from" because "in" is more accurate. Poseurs in California who may or may not be from California but who are definitely not from England say "pressies" and it hurrrrrrrrts usssss. *nods*

And now to bring the two topics together: Poseurs of Gor!

(I'm not being fair. I've never read Gorean *cough* philosophy *cough* or books. I've really only heard enough about it to sprain my eyes rolling them....)

I'm glad you had such a nice weekend, Ang. I can think of few who deserve it more! I saw that particular review for 'Shiner', and you know, sometimes the mind really does just boggle.

I hope it'll be worth the wait :D

Bootybrains - isn't that just a fantastic name? I've often wondered where kids keep their brains these days, and now I know!!

Alas, my knee is still playing up. I can't find a comfortable position for it at all. I'm trying to ignore it.

Looking forward to a good gossip!!

Gald to hear that David's family make up for the lack of sympathy from you own--they do sound very nice people.

Can't wait to read the Shiner sequel. :D

They're fantastic people :) BTW, the sequel to shiner is up. I've renamed it to "Manipulation", with "Shiner" as the first chapter.
