I spent a glorious hour tonight cuddling Chris and Vicky's five day old little girl, Skye. Am officially now Auntie Ang and exceedingly happy about it. No tears were shed, but I think everyone had a suspicious sheen to their eyes. She's a complete and utter darling!

Am very happy and for some unknown reason, writing a la Bridget Jones. How very odd.

In other good news, we are now the proud parents to a lawnmower. No longer do we need avoid catching the neighbours eyes. On Saturday the lawn will be mown and respectable. Our neighbourhood is somewhat obsessed with neatly manicured lawns....

I think secretly, every woman wants to be Bridget Jones.
On the other hand, every man secretly wants to sleep with Bridget Jones.

I dub this theory: The Bridget Jones theory of Everything.

You want to sleep with Bridget Jones? I hope that's the real Bridget, and not Renee's rendition. I didn't even make it a quarter of the way through the sequel :P

Actually, probably just Renee.. Although it would have to be normal Bridget Renee (she was hawt), not My little anorexia Renee.

What is it with neighbours obsessed with their lawns...? No matter where I move, there's always one right across or beside me. >_>

The woman across from us, mows her lawn every second day in mid-summer. And trims the edges weekly. It's sheer insanity.

[nods] Well do I know the type! When I lived in Florida [Southeastern tip of the US], the guy across from us mowed it almost dailly, pulled out imperfections by hand, fed it, watered it religiously. I swear he stroked and kissed it! xD

There's very little in the way of housework that I despise more than lawn-mowing. *shudder* It's loud, arduous, makes a mess, aggravates my allergies to the point of agony, and for what? To chop the heads off of all those poor little blades of grass. :( And then if you hit a rock or a root or something... just, UGH. And then if you have to bag the clippings! Oh God, SO not worth having a lawn.

Ahem.

Yay for the cute baby! *hugs Ang*

This will be very loud--a huge, petrol driven mower. Still, at least our house won't stand out as the odd one out in the area! I share your pain though!

There are mowers that aren't petrol driven? o.O Whoa.

Lucky for you we don't have a lawn! The only yard work around here is leaf blowing in the fall. (Though sometimes I get a gardening bug and go out and yank weeds....)

I'd be more inclined to weed, if I could reliably recognise a weed. I can spot nettles and dandelions, and that's about it!

I thought Brits cut their lawns with nail scissors. *snicker*

Congrats on the new niece. Five days? Aren't they the cutest? I'm so happy for you, Auntie Ang! :D

I think my lawn requires a bit more than mere nail scissors ;) It's pretty much knee-high *blush*

And yes, babies are very cute at 5 days-ish--although, I'd forgotten just how sharp their nails are!!

We are lucky enough to have a tiny front garden which is mostly slab with a few plants, and therefore dont have to worry about awkward encounters with the neighbours. As for the back, I think my dad is quite fond of mowing the lawn. God knows why, but it means it gets done fairly often.

Of course, when I move to my house in Sheffield it is going to have a big-arse front lawn. *Wonders if House comes equipped with a lawnmower. Or some nail scissors ;)

I'm glad you had such a lovely time cuddling the baby. Congrats :D

*cries with laughter* It barely fit into the car, and you should have seen us trying to manoever it out of the car once we got home. Too big for the boot, and we had to have the front seats waaaay forward so that it would squeeze onto the backseat. It is a monster.

Still, it was £40. Mustn't grumble.

You made me go look at Jake's pictures when he was a few days old.... It's been a while, lol.

We had a lawn mower, but it's not working. But with our tiny yard, weed whacker is enough to do the job.

Awwwww :) I bet that brought back some great memories!

We could probably do the lawn with a weed whacker but it's heavy and then you have to rake the results. I think that we're natural indoor people....

Lawns. I don't get them. Oh, sure, it's nice to have an area for the kids to roll around in I suppose.... But it's not worth the amount of upkeep, that's for sure. I can't imagine how sucky life would be if we had to give up one day of every weekend for lawn mowing and weed wacking.

:D Five days old. They're so wonderful then. I love them right up till they get the hang of crawling.

This is going to be the quickest lawn-mowing ever. Neither of us want to do it. I'm trying to think of a no hassle way of getting rid of the weeds that are actually in the lawn--seems to be some sort of yellow-flowering stuff growing like a carpet *sigh*

Urgh, crawling. Our house is not baby-safe in the slightest. I dread that stage.

Congrats, Auntie Ang!

Lawn mowing is not one of my favorite chores. Have to admit one of the reasons I'm so glad to see my dad visit so frequently is... *he* will mow the lawn. He does a better job than me, too. LOL.
