Too much information is crammed into my poor brain currently.

I've just done a mock theory test (34/35, thank-you very much!) and a slew of hazard perception training. Hazard perception is a real fucking bitch. Grainy video, horrible foggy night-time driving, and I swear the car they're filming from for the clips follows much too closely making itself a hazard to other drivers. I take it that they haven't heard of braking distance. Still, you only need to get 44/75 to pass, and in the mock HPT I scored 50.

Thing is... I click when I see a hazard developing, as one should. And then get a reduced mark for it, as I've apparently clicked too early. Argh. I'm going to try counting to three, then clicking and see if my scoring improves. But then... this isn't an exact replica of the official test (none of the training packages are), so what if I then start clicking too late in the real test?

The whole thing is a real mind-bender and a massive headache too.

Why are you taking hazard perception training? Is it part of learning how to drive in the UK...? We don't have anything like this in the US. That I know of, anyway. I just took a written test and a great deal many lectures on not eating red lights and not driving drunk.

Hazard perception was introduced last year (or maybe even the year before) as a further component of the driving theory test to reduce the number of accidents caused by drivers in the first year after passing the driving test. You have to watch 14 video clips and identify/react to the major developing hazard in each--to add some extra spice, one clip contains two hazards. The rest of the theory test is a multiple choice thing, based on the highway code, traffic signs, driving attitude and car maintenance.

It's all very... thorough.

Good luck. They should do this in the US. Too many idiots have no idea what constitutes a road hazard...
