In reading [livejournal.com profile] fanficrants and [livejournal.com profile] deleterius entries, I've often stumbled across people saying that fic's have been MSTd. It's taken me months to figure out what they mean by MST, but finally I've managed it!

Mystery Science Theater.

*beams proudly*

In my defense, I've only ever seen part of one episode and I think it was also parodied in a film once? It only clicked when I started reading an entry over at [livejournal.com profile] deu_sex_machina which started in a dark theatre, as usual.

Well. This is a promising start to the week, isn't it? All neurons firing appropriately!

If you want some MST3K, I am your source!

I will send you some via the internets. Although at 700 meg a pop, it may take some time.

I doubt either of my mailboxes can cope with that!! I'll see if Blockbuster has any that I can rent (not that we ever get around to watching the DVDs we rent, but the thought was there, right?).

Well, I wouldn't send 700MB movie files via email, you would have to download them from a web server, or via IRC or something. :P

Oh you read [livejournal.com profile] fanficrants -and- [livejournal.com profile] deleterius?

Squee ;)

They are great for hours of amusement ;)

Hmm, doesnt [livejournal.com profile] deleterius have a glossary of terms? For the Pit of Voles etc and questions just like this? *ponders*

Anyways, yeah get [livejournal.com profile] heliotic to send you "Riding with Death" or... that other one I like. With the yellow cardigan.

They are good!

They are!! I rarely read HP stories, but the sporkings they deal out at [Unknown site tag] are just fantastic. I didn't see a glossary of terms when I first joined, and having just had a quick look there isn't anything obviously jumping out at me....

I now have urges to do MST for RPS fics. That should be good for a laugh. You think guys cry lots in bad Harry Potter fic... the grown men in (bad, of course) rock-band RPS spend most of their lives crying!!

Raaar!! I loathe LJ tags! That should have been deleterius. Never mind. And you can't edit these things either? Raaar, I say!

Oh, well if you ever decide to give them a go, I have *looks shifty* a ton of recs on whatever pairing floats your boat!

The only RPS I ever read was er... LOTR *whimper* which sent me flailing right out of that fandom ;P

Maybe I could try again on a NON-insane group ;)

I thought you were Angel/Buffy? I seem to remember reading something about Spike, but I could just be completely misremembering. (Which is very probable.)

I've read a little LOTR RPS. Some absolutely dire (I know Orlando is a stupid name, but Orli is an even stupider nickname) and some rather good. I um, can't resist RPS which involves Sean Bean. Mmmmm Sean....

If you ever get the urge to read about your favourite rockbands getting it on together then give me a shout :P Hell, I can probably find someone to rec popslash. We're insane, but insane in a very well written way!!

OhhhHHhhhh.

Well!

Season Seven of Buffy ruined Angel/Buffy for me. I have a few WIP I still read that are Buffy/Spike ([livejournal.com profile] herself_nyc is fucking fantastic), but since the demise of the show, there arn't as many people contributing I guess, so it has died down a lot.

Then just browsing, I found a lot of -good- HP stuff. I've read the books, but I'm not a die-hard fan, I lurk on the edges and find the good stuff ;)

Hehe, you mean you managed to avoid all the RPS Elijah/Billy/Dom stuff? ;P

There are some crrrrazy people out there who are rabid, which really put me off the whole thing ;)

Uh, I'll think about the RPS recs, have to think and see if there is a band that appeals ;)

Oh, have you read GAFF? It has a recommendations section that is every genre under the sun -- I've seen some band/rps stuff there.

Also reading the "new releases" section is great if you are bored and have a strong stomach ;)

I never got on with the Spuffy pairing. I was always very firmly Angel(us)/Spike--if it's Angel then you get sarcasm and angst, and if it's Angelus, you get some nice torture. Spike always provides quality snark, and together they're very pretty to look at.

Happy days.

Yes! I managed successfully to avoid the Elijah/Billy/Dom stuff. Alas, I'm not so interested in the hobbitses--although, Sam and Frodo were definitely shagging--I perked up whenever Viggo or Sean came on screen. From what I saw of the LOTRps fandom, everyone vehmently believed that the cast spent three years in New Zealand shagging each other instead of the sheep. Crazy people.

I haven't come across GAFF before. I can see me wasting hours upon hours going through the archive in case I've turned up there. I didn't spot any band RPS thus far, but I've only skimmed. People there need to work on their subject lines *nodnods*

Spangle eh?

(On another note -- the mashing together of names to create a name for the pairing, not working so well here :P)

Lets see...

Days of our Unlives is both funny, h0t, and a never finished WIP.

Manhattan Nocturne - The ever amazing [livejournal.com profile] herself_nyc has a slashy stand alone which while not quite spike/angle, is spike/lots of boys

That's off the top of my head, lemme know if you likey ;)

Oh I don't know. I can picture Spike in a spangly shirt ;)

I loooooooove Days of our Unlives. One of my favourite fics to re-read. Haven't come across Manhattan Nocturene but will check it out this afternoon.

My favourite Spangel is Old Friends (http://www.bound-by-blood.com/pages/oldfriends1.html) by Mouse.

Thanks for the recs!

Hehe no probs! Most of her things are spike/buffy but its all well written and hot.

Hey, rec me some of the stuff you like :) Doesn't have to be anything I normally read -- actually better if it isn't :)

Quid pro quo! ;)

All the stories Angie79 plagiarized were excellent popslash fics orginally.... *grin*

Ooh, MSTs. ^_^ Done right, they can the absolutely funniest things. ...Done wrong, however, they're worse than the damn fics... But, hey. MSTs generally make a bad fic bearable.

I used to watch Mystery Science Theatre 3000 every Saturday when they were playing it on the Sci-Fi channel. My dad, however, hated it as he thought that the movies that they were reviewing could be watchable "if the shadows down in front would stop talking." Yeah, I told him he was missing the point. ^_^ It's how my friends and I watch bad movies or T.V. shows though. It makes them hilarious. Also, James Bond movies, while not particularly bad, are very fun to do this to.

GAFF and Fandom Wank, too are awesome if lately having some issues over the quality of posts and posters...
