Just watched How To Cook Like Heston. I fucking love Heston. He's mad as a stick, innovative and self-taught which I admire intensely. I have spent a happy half-hour learning all about how to cook beef better. This is how exciting my evening is :P
It was actually fascinating stuff. Much better than Heston's last programme, the disastrous foray into reality TV, which I think proves that Heston is best when he's allowed to be himself. Geeky and excited about food!
Now to try the Star Anise Trick---not quite as cunning as Pratchett's Gingerbeer Trick, but probably more delicious---with my next stew or chilli, I probably won't grind my own meat and lay it out neatly to form burgers, but I might well try his salt-binding technique
And now we're watching Tamara Drewe which is actually pretty good. I couldn't get into the comic strip collection, but the film is much more accessible. And fun!
