You can tell it's Christmas around here. Everyone's gone absolutely bonkers for food. (I do have to include myself in this as I was at the shops at 7am this morning.) There isn't much Christmas spirit going on in the meat aisle with everyone fighting over turkeys, and it's practically baguettes at dawn in the bread aisles!

There is a bit more Christmas spirit in our road though. Someone has just very kindly returned our paper recycling bag which blew away while I was out this morning. That's saved me a phonecall to the council and probably about £5 for a new one. Hooray!

I have a busy day ahead of me. I need to make both starter and dessert for our Boxing Day meal. I've made a good start on Project Pud and Lucas and I are watching a Thomas the Tank Engine film while we're waiting for things to cool.

Speaking of Lucas, did I mention that he's very clever?

On Thursday he took two steps, on Friday he took four, and yesterday he had a very long walk and took 11 steps! I reckon we're a week away from having a toddler on our hands... He's also started spoon-feeding himself a bit, too. I think he's looking forward to Christmas. He definitely likes the tree--pop-up trees rule!--and he loves the string of LED train lights that his uncle Ant bought him. I'm pretty sure that he'd be investigating the present pile if I was foolish enough to put it on the floor.

He really is :D Such a good boy today--excited and not at all cranky, even though he missed his naps. I reckon he had a fab day and we did too!

How was your day?

Glad you had a good day! Hope your Boxing Day feast went well as well.

Our day was quiet, which I suppose is to be expected when your house is full of old people, but then in the evening we had some family friends over as per our Christmas tradition, and it all got a bit rowdy as my mum brought out these quiz questions she had bought, and you can imagine a dozen intoxicated people trying to shout the answers over each other. Good fun!

A bit in advance, but it seems I might be in Bristol in July for the4 wedding of the eldest daughter of that family. They are having a small ceremony which mum and dad are going to, but Lucy did invite me and Dill to the reception, so we could go for lunch on the Saturday or something!

July is no problem--fifth of July is our wedding anniversary but so far no plans!

Dave does point out that you're more than welcome to come visiting/escaping long before then. And I concur!

The Feast was fantastic! Both the dishes I prepared in advance were great, spectacular even. I can't help but think that the turkey would have been better if I'd boned and prepared it myself, but that would have been slightly mad. Still, everyone agreed that it was a very good meal :D

Haha. I just got back from the shops myself (it's only 10:47am here). I was surprised to find that the stores weren't any more crowded than usual (though a truck did run me out of my lane on the highway and an SUV came frighteningly close to backing right over me as my pushed my shopping cart out of one of the shops *sigh*).

(But omg I just paid $67 for a standing rib roast!!! I so hope I don't fuck it up tomorrow.)

You're making me think back to when Jake started walking, which was so long ago. My God, next year Jake can get his learner's permit for driving!

I miss Thomas the Tank Engine videos.

I still get freakd out by seeing clothes for older age groups. I can't wrap my head around the concept of him getting bigger. Older, yes, bigger no.

Hope your roast beef went well! It's pretty hard to mess up good beef, so I bet it was lovely :)

It was faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaantastic. We got a gift card for the store I bought it from, too, so I see another roast beef in the future. :D

Merry Christmas!

Thomas the Tank Engine and I are old buddies, lol. We have the whole train setup at home, with lots of engines and buildings and bridges, etc.

Yay for 11 steps! That's how it starts, you know *g*.
