Telco ramblings

I really should keep abreast of what's going on in telecommunications. I spent part of the morning wondering if my hosting company had gone bust, but it turns out that Redbus has had a lovely power outage and is refusing to give an ETA or any decent level of detail. I could have saved myself some gnashing of teeth and whining by just checking El Reg. Still, it's sods law that this happens when I was all set to actually post on my blog. At the rate things are going, I don't expect to be able to make a post until midday tomorrow. Gone are the days when I could ring up people and scream until things got fixed. *sniff sniff*

In other news, Bernie Ebbers is doing a fantastic job of trying to portray himself as a village idiot who went to bed one night owning a few motels, and woke up decades later as the CEO of one of the largest telecom companies ever (UUNET/WorldCom/MCI call it whichever you prefer). According to him, he has a poor grasp of accounting and technology. Yeah, right. Still, this is shaping up to be much more interesting than the Michael Jackson trial....

I look forward to seeing Scott (Sullivan, ex CFO) paint him as the devil incarnate--will they go so far as to shave him and look for the devil's number on his body?--and for Bernie to retaliate by pretending to be the stupidest person on the planet. Now that's entertainment.

I case they shave this guy, could you please tape it? I wanna watch a guy being shaved... ;D

Oh, you don't want to watch Bernie getting shaved :P He's old and crumbly. I'd quite enjoy watching him being boiled in oil.... My shares are worthless :/
