My 20 week scan date finally came through on Friday. It's on the 2nd of June when I will-amazingly enough--actually be 20 weeks. Hopefully Speck is as ridiculously healthy as Dave is and not sickly and broken like mummy. I'm looking forward to starting to buy little bits and bobs. I do worry that I'll have Speck and not have anywhere for him/her to sleep....
We've had such a busy week. Between the move, unpacking, sorting out off jobs and so forth, we've also spent a huge amount of time with friends. GG and M came over from Australia for a week or so and we met up with them twice which was fab. We also spent a good chunk of the afternoon today with one of our more elusive friends who drops out of sight every time he has the tiniest blip in his life. Still, it was good to see him again. (And at least he didn't pat my tummy.)
What else? We saw X3 on opening day and were both unimpressed. Overall it rated about 4.5/10 for me; Dave was more generous and gave it 5/10. Brett Ratner was a horrible choice for director and the writers should be shot, too. They have managed to rape two wonderful comic story arcs.
In all fairness, Fox did impose pressure on themselves as a means to getting back at the old director who left for the Superman franchise. They were determined to get this film out before Superman Returns dropped and thus the effects ands torytelling suffered. (All gossip courtesy of Dave who reads much more about movies than I do.) Still. Distinctly unimpressed. (There were a couple of scenes which captured the spirit of the comics, but the rest was just "ok". And who the hell wants a big-budget superhero film to just be "ok"?)
I finished off an obscure WIP and sent that to
evaine for editing yesterday. Next up is possibly a sequel to Synesthesia. I poked through my WIP folder and there were a few great sentences in my fumbling attempts at a beginning, so I'll keep prodding it until it does something interesting.
I think I'm going to have an early-ish night. Very sleepy today. (I think I've been yawning since 4pm.)

Date: 2006-05-27 11:25 pm (UTC)Longshot is lucky. Very very lucky. He's slightly reminiscent of the Scarlet Witch in that he manipulates reality in his favour. (I think the Scarlet Witch is a lot more conscious of what she's doing. Generally.) Dazzler is useless. Basically a boobier version of Jubilee.
We will get more photos of Speck. According to the leaflet I was sent, each print costs £5 which is shockingly expensive. I haven't heard of them being so expensive anywhere else, even in London. We'll get five max. (I suspect that they're making 100% profit on them. They'll be taking them anyway for my notes, but I dunno whether they'll be sent to my midwife or just stuck in my notes at the time. Must remember to bring cash.)

Date: 2006-05-28 10:08 am (UTC)Was thoroughly peeved at the screwed up storyline. Made me seriously wanna just start pouting.
Although, I AM a sucker for the kick ass special effects. *sighs*
(this is Chrissy from Rockfic btw)

Date: 2006-05-28 12:55 pm (UTC)That sounds like the sort of shopping it would be difficult for anyone not to enjoy. Even me. I like to know what I'm looking for, and like to go striaght in and find it. Rootling and browsing annoys me. Unless it's a bookshop or music shop. I have been known to spend hours in those.
20 weeks! That's awesome stuff! Speaking of scna, last night I dreamt I was pregnant, and having the scan is the only bit of the dream I can remember. My mind, clearly, works in very bizarre ways. I blame the exam stress, lol.

Date: 2006-05-30 02:42 pm (UTC)I remember this--it was exciting, but also a little overwhelming, lol. Fortunately, we got a crib (two even) as hand-me-downs, so one major purchase was out of the way.
So it's half-way today, huh? Fingers crossed for the other half. Hugs for you and Speck :)
