Dave wants to start dieting again, which, by extension, means that I'll be dieting too. Yes, I desperately need to halve my body weight, but it's so much bloody effort. I loathe dieting. The problem this time, is that I'm out of ideas for healthy food despite having almost every Weight Watchers book under the sun. Well, the main problem is really that I have zero motivation and serious ice-cream urges. At least I managed to unearth my WW calculator.

Expect my mood to go downhill on Monday when all the fat is abruptly ripped from my diet. I can see me now, desperately licking a butter wrapper....

In less calorific news, I've taken a little break from Fracture to try and finish off the fourth chapter of Wild Things. Probably not the best idea in the world, but I'm enjoying writing decent sex. Joolz posted a gorgeous pic of Kirk and Rob in the woods which managed to wrench my Lars-muse back from his holiday in Rio. It may be a flying visit but I'm going to try and make the most of it.

It's something, isn't it, trying to eat healthy? I could have a candy bar and a plum on the counter--both require no preparation, both are sweet and yummy--and I'd have no interest in the plum unless the candy bar wasn't there. (Even then I likely wouldn't have any interest in the plum. Some days I'd rather be hungry than eat a plum. Why? I like plums!)

(Which reminds me; my plan today was oat bran for breakfast, a grapefruit for a snack, and a tuna sandwich for lunch. I managed the tuna sandwich at least....)

You'd think natural selection would have gotten us leaning toward healthy foods, but nooooo. (Chocolate, however, is really the only "produced" food I love, though. Everything else I'd rather it be simple, fresh, and chemical free. I can't stand the taste of canned soups, TV dinners, frozen vegetables, boxed meals.... Mark says I'm the pickiest person he's ever known.)

Good luck with the healthier eating and the writing. :D You may be the only one of us doing the writing thing right now!

Good luck on the calorific thing. I know how you feel, I have NO interest in eating healthy and less calorically. And I should. Oh well.

I'd love to see another chapter of Wild Things... can't wait! Yay for decent sex writing. ::going to look for Kirk and Rob in the woods pic::

Good luck! I find that eliminating a few things at a time works better than going cold turkey on all the junk food... lol I'm quite experienced with dieting. Also, if you switch to organic foods, you may find that you don't get as hungry and don't suffer as many cravings. All of the chemicals that get added to most processed foods do funny things to our bodies.

The method that works for me best is not to buy sweets and ice cream, and always have a lot of fruit in the house. I love fruit, I can stuff myself with fruit any time. But when there's ice cream in the freezer ... no amount of will power will keep me away from it. If only I could stop going to the grocery store, I would not have opportunities to buy the sweet/fat stuff. Maybe I should start ordering groceries online.

Good luck with the dieting.

Low fat diet and regular power walking/running/swimming helped me lose 6 kilograms in about 1.5 years. Food combining was good for another 6 kilograms in less than 1 year (it's not as complicated/cumbersome as it sounds :)). Being active for about 30 minutes at least every other day is crucial. Drink a lot of water or fruit/herbal tea.

I now keep my weight without dieting at all. Be sure to lose weight slowly. What you lose quickly will just as quickly be back on.

Good luck to both, you and Dave!

I feel you, dear. Dieting is a bitch, especially if you totally lack of willpower as me. Or if you have the best cook in the world in the house *Glares at Motty*.

Good luck with your (and Dave's!). I wish I could give you advices, but...I'm not the best person ;)

And YAY! Wild Things! *dances*

diets. mmmph.

I'm considering weight watchers :P work is doing a 6 week thingie at lunchtimes. (i.e. you're spending your lunchbreak listening to Marjories Daws instead of eating? I dunno).

It's really hard. I think that we turned out too intelligent otherwise we would be chowing down on healthy stuff all the time, and eschewing the good stuff like chocolate. *sigh*

Oh well, I've dug out a book of low-fat desserts so I guess I'm all set :P

It's a great picture, you'll enjoy it :D Still working on the new chapter--turns out that my muses only visited fleetingly.

Thanks C. We eat quite a lot of organic food anyway.... I think it's more the amount of food that we need to cut down on. Actually, I know it is :P

I'm considering doing a two-day detox to kick-start things. That should take care of most of the additives and nasty things!

I cancelled my Chocolate Tasting Club membership *sniffs sadly* Ice-cream will be replaced with home-made sorbets which are (a) cheaper (b) healthier and (c) I eat less of them as they're more intensly flavoured. I'm not a fruit person, unless it's in something.

Ordering groceries online never works out well for me. They always miss out vital ingredients, which means that I have to trundle out to the supermarket. And they never choose food with long dates even though they're supposed to do that!!

The old-style Weight Watchers was good. I haven't heard much about this new program that they've introduced (Switch, I think?). Doing it at work could either be v.cool or v.embarassing. If Evil Bitch isn't doing it, then it could be worth a go?

It is hard when you've got great food around (I have no modesty about my cooking :P). Maybe if I approach it as a challenge to produce the world's best low-fat food?

Thanks Lia *smooch*

Thanks Brigitte, that's very helpful :D I'm already drinking the regulation 8 glasses of water a day, but I could definitely do with upping that. I'm considering detoxing for a couple of days to kick-start things... it would be nice to get back into my favourite jeans :)

You had a Chocolate Tasting Club membership?? That sounds so decadent :D. As for the online groceries, as much as I hate shopping, I like to take a good look at what I'm buying. And yes, the expiration dates! That sucks.

Detoxing is good, but you shouldn't go on zero-diet, ie. not eating at all. Our body is an amazing thing. It will reduce all metabolic activities to a minimum. Once you start eating again it will keep metabolism low and build up reserves for the next "famine".

Keep your metabolism high by regular exercise and keep eating food with lots of proteins and fibers.
