I have a floater in my eye. It's exactly like one of those bouncing dots you get at karaoke--it's happily running along every word I read--except it's gray and not a lurid red. On the plus side, at least this puts paid to Dave's theory that I don't see half of the words on a page when I'm speed-reading.

In other news: it snowed overnight. It's still trying to snow just now but it's just the occasional flake. The forecast is for sleet this morning and snow this afternoon. Lovely. Damn those Scandinavian winds!

I went to my last doctor's visit scared, but it turned out to be floaters. They do bug me when I start thinking about it and then I notice them more, but most of the time, I can ignore them.

No, no need to worry. A floater is generally dead inflammatory cells and I always have low-grade inflammation in my eyes somewhere. Either it's disintegrated now or I'm simply not noticing it this evening.

Yeah, they can be worrying. Apparently they're more common in the summer months.

I remember swatting at a fly all the way home from work once.... Never did I even lay a finger on it and I began to wonder if I smelt bad. It turned out to be a particularly dark floater that had swung into my visual field. God knows what everyone thought of the crazy lady flailing wildly at thin air....
