Fic update.
Jul. 19th, 2005 11:29 amThis has been a bit of a weird month writing-wise. Lots of beta-ing, lots of angst about not writing, and plenty of housework to fill in the gaps with. Yay.
Fire And Ice currently stands at 1449 words. With some amazement, I note that I do have two full scenes written, and some random snippets. Right now I'm trying to decide whether a dialogue tag of "he growled" is evil or not. I swear, my personality gets more obsessive with every passing day. I'd possibly be better served by worrying about the opening paragraph. On the plus side, I did get to abuse Jason, so I'm quite happy about that.
I have no idea why I decided to cut this. Oh well. Maybe it's a residual of scouring the house for porn, so as not to offend viewers.
I dusted off Where The Wild Things Are! I haven't written anything much on the final chapter, but at least I now know what happens in it. Having read through the previous chapters, I'm probably going to revise the hell out of them. No more gay Rob, I think. And much less adverbs. *nods*
My fairy-godmother/comedy story--now that I think about it, it's more of a sitcom--is on the back-burner now (sorry Andy & Lia), while I try to battle last-chapteritis and finish the above two stories. And once those are done, I have a James/Lars story that I promised Ev as a reward for putting up with my late-night ramblings. And then... I have a mental garden full of plot-bunnies. There's an elaborately designed rabbit warren forming in the right frontal lobe of my brain.
Oh. In other writing news... I didn't win or receive an honourable mention in the Chizine contest. I didn't honestly expect to, so no tea and sympathy needed. Although, if anyone wants to grab a cloth and start cleaning, that would be great....
Ah well, I need to go and clean the bath now.

Date: 2005-07-19 01:14 pm (UTC)Get over your last-chapteritis. The feeling will be ecstatic once you've written them.
Sorry to hear about not getting a mention in the Chizine contest. :(
And for the record: I will not grab a cloth and start cleaning for quite a while even in my own place... ;)

LOL. One man's abuse is another (wo)man's happiness....

Date: 2005-07-19 02:16 pm (UTC)I'll do a happy dance round the room when I get these last chapters done and dusted. They've almost become my own personal bogeymen.

Date: 2005-07-19 03:22 pm (UTC)I'm thinking that I'm probably overdue another J/J story, if I'm putting random acts of Jason-abuse in other stories ;)

Date: 2005-07-19 03:49 pm (UTC)"He growled" if not overused, works for me. I agree completely though that "he ejaculated" when used in connection with speaking is unacceptable. (Barbara Cartland used that frequently. And every time, it stopped my eye and stopped the flow of the reading.) (And yes, I *did*... and do... read Barbara Cartland romances... )
