I've just splurged at Lakeland, not 24 hours after spending a shitload of money in Villeroy & Boch at Bicester Village. I don't need a friand tin, but by George! I damn well want one.

Oh well, at least I'm still enthused by cooking! (Speaking of which, I have beef stifado on the stove and rosemary and garlic roast potatoes in the oven. Have I mentioned how much I adore WW, even if I hardly ever use their recipes?)

ETA--how on earth have I managed to miss the fact that it's the Oscars tonight? Must record them....

Friands are also known as financiers--they're small buttery French cakes usually made with almonds and are shaped like oval muffins.
