[livejournal.com profile] 2lazy4linux (aka Dave) and I are having a lengthy debate over whether we should find out the baby's sex at the 20 week scan. I was going to make a poll but it turns out that I'm really lazy today. So... feel free to offer up opinions on his post if you feel so inclined.

Personally, I really want to know. If Speck turns out to be a boy, even though I'm convinced it's a girl, then that gives me a few months to get used to the prospect of pee in eye and worse.

*snort*

Pee in the eye...and you're right, that ain't the half of it. But, they both have their 'things.'

Cor!
I think I'd personally like a surprise - unless you particularly had an idea whether you want a boy or a girl. You might not get the chance to find out! Speck might be dancing round for the camera in a coy way :)

Hnh. I guess I'd rather not know the gender. Knowing that the Earthling-to-Be is well and healthy would be good enough for me.

Pee in the eye would take a bit of getting used to! It's the teenage years I'm most worried about, though. (As far as I can see, there's little difference between kids until they hit puberty.)

It's a toss up as to whether sulky teenage boys who never wash or clean their rooms are better than girls going through early-onset puberty who wind up ruling the house through sheer ill-temper and spite. I'm sure that there are millions of kids who go through puberty without hitting extremes, but you never hear about them as there's little to complain about.

I dunno. I have weird neuroses. Maybe I just want a girl so that I can have a go at being a better mother to a girl than my own mother was with me? It's entirely possible.... Which is a really horrible thought--I feel quite bad now. (It also has to be said that she didn't do a stellar job with my brother, either.)

Yeah, when Chris and Vic went for their scan, Skye had her legs crossed so they ended up with a surprise. If Speck keeps his/her legs uncrossed then I'd definitely want to know. I feel it's a girl but I've got a 50/50 chance of being wrong so I wouldn't bet on it :P

Oh! No! Don't you dare feel bad.

I know this, if I know nothing else, for what I know of you...

you'll be a fantabulous parent, either way, boy or girl. That's what I know.

I did as requested and posted on The Dave's LJ.

Just as an add-on. The teenage years with Michael were fairly angst and big crisis free. MY big problem with him was between the ages of 8 and 12. Did NOT understand that child one little bit. Thought the Area 51 folk had switched my loving little boy on me and left me with this creature that bore NO resemblance to anything logical. *LOL*

You know.. I wanted a girl very badly. I never found out, BTW, for those that don't read The Dave's journal. Anyway... wanted a girl really, really badly, but when Michael came out and peed all over the Doctor, it didn't matter. *LOL* I do wonder, now that you're making me think of it - if with wanting a girl as badly as I did, if I had known I wasn't going to have one - would I have had a somewhat sad or disappointed pregnancy? Would some of the excitement and thrill and anticipation have been gone? I honestly don't know.
