Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy
We saw the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy this afternoon. I'm giving it 6/10.
A lot of the jokes lacked punchlines, which made for slightly confused viewing. The only main cast member I really liked was Slartibartfast (sp?) and the mice. The opening montage throws you right into the film, without a gentle lead-in that the book/radio-show really demands. Zaphod was good! Marvin was awesome, deliciously depressed. I could have done without the romantic development between Arthur and Trillian. Damn Hollywood! We'll probably buy it on DVD when it comes out. Oh, and it's been left open for a sequel.
Still, some of my favourite jokes did make it in. And the sperm whale (and bowl of petunias) do make it into the film. Which is good :D

Gut reaction: Oh, bleah!
Slightly More Intelligent Reaction: Damn you, Hollywood! Is there nothing you won't attempt to turn into some cash cow?! Potter, LOTR, Unfortunate Events, and now Hitchhiker's? Oh, bleah!
