 Day 5

In your own space, share something non-fannish you are passionate about with your fannish friends. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.

I like to make things.  I'm not very prolific, but I love knitting, crochet and cross stitch.  I've dabbled in all sorts of crafts but always return to those three.  I've been knitting and crocheting since I was six and used to knit a lot of my own sweaters back in the day, but I much prefer smaller things now.  Baby clothes are pretty much ideal :)  It's taken me ages to track down some pictures, so please do clicky!

This is a hooded baby cardigan that I crocheted for my niece---please excuse the dreadful photo---and then embellished a little with some crocheted flowers.  The flowers were lots of fun and used up odds and ends of embroidery floss that I had lying around.  Here's a close-up:

I've been cross stitching for years, too, on and off.  It takes me ages these days but it's very satisfying and since my husband is practically allergic to the idea of re-painting the house, it brightens up the magnolia!

This is my current WIP.  As you might be able to tell, it's a bit fannish.  Well, a lot fannish.  I got the pattern on LJ and I adore it.  This picture is a bit old, but I'm sure you get the general idea!  Can't wait to have it framed and up on the wall.  It's a lot more finished now.  I'll try and update the photo if we get a bit of sunshine tomorrow.

Here's my favourite finished piece.  It's a Michael Powell design, Tuscan Garden 1.  This took ages, but the result was totally worth it.  One day I'll stitch the other two pieces in the series.

This year I want to finish my UFO, Keep Calm and Carry On cross stitch---just tracked down a digital copy of the pattern so now I can actually finish the crown!---and make the very gorgeous Emily Peacock Hug Cushion I also have a pattern for a manip of Van Gough's Starry Night complete with the TARDIS that the artist granted permission to be stitched.  Would love to have that hanging beside my dalek, but it's a huge pattern.

I also like to make cakes and bake in general. Well, liked.  I am an almost retired baker now after going primal.  Cake decorating is tricky without sugar!  Here's my favourite cake, only slightly out of season.

hi there, Snowflake!

It had been years since I did cross stitching, and never did something overly ambitious. I love your Tuscan Garden!
